Presentation about what it takes to make an unreal world believable world - it isn’t just about the map, we have to build a society. So what makes up a society? We’ll talk about the different aspects: from the population make-up, government, the economy, laws & education. With discussion and exercises to ‘flesh out’ your story world. Workshop: attendees will be challenged to list all the things that make up a modern society. Discussion: We discuss books we know and things within them that make them feel real. Challenge: we come up with a strange new world together. Workshop: attendees will pick one area from the list at random and come up with fun ideas on how to build our new world based on that area, i.e. currency. (Depending on class size this may be a team or group activity) Further work: to come up with a character that challenges this world to be better!
